DAMAGE SURVEY
In the unfortunate event that your vessel has sustained damages from a collision, a grounding incident, flooding, fire or severe weather conditions, it is highly recommended to carry out a damage assessment survey by a professional surveyor. Many insurance companies insist on such surveys before any claim can be made.
We as marine surveyor will inspect the full extent of the damage and provide a detailed written report, with recommendations for the repair specifications.
The depth and extent of damages is often not visible at the first glance to a private individual. We are highly experienced and trained as marine surveyors to identify any structural issues or weaknesses which may affect the vessel in the future.
Some insurance companies offer a one-time claim only, on any specific damage. Meaning, future claims on the old damaged area are not covered.
The survey report can also be used to help the owner obtain suitable quotes for the repair works.
The insurers need assurance that the repairs are carried out to an adequate standard, at an acceptable cost and that the vessel will be returned to its original structural and visual condition.
A follow up visit by the surveyor can be arranged, once the repairs have been completed, to ensure work has been carried out to the correct standard.
