Our Surveyor & Consultant

Chris Keenan holds a Diploma in Marine Surveying and is professionally qualified in surveying vessels up to 24m and small craft constructed in wood, steel /alloy, GRP , including sails and rigging. He is certified by the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS), an organisation highly recognised worldwide by all the major marine institutions.

MS•YS differs from other professionals in that Chris is also a fully trained and qualified shipwright and rigger as well as an RYA Yacht Master offshore instructor. He has 45+ years of experiences in many areas of the marine industry, especially in major restorations and repairs, in different parts of the world. Chris´s passion and in-depth knowledge of sails and rigging, wood, steel, alloy and GRP, allows him to find deficiencies and problems in order to produce comprehensive and detailed reports including repair recommendations. All his training and experience give him great advantages when surveying a vessel.

Chris used to teach/train navigation and seamanship in the UK for the RYA and became a sailing instructor for the US Navy, He has crossed the Atlantic several times, in his own and clients vessels and has many a thousand seamiles in his log book. In addition, he speaks English, Italian, Spanish and French – which is often of great value to our clients.

As a proud member of the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS), Chris was awarded the John Excel Award for outstanding achievement in 2021.
